This week we are working on summarizing. For your reading response I would like you to write a 3-4 sentence summary. Then, a paragraph response to your reading. Your response is a paragraph about what this book made you think about.
Example:
This week I read the book The Kamishibai Man. In this book an old man was not happy about the changes he saw happening in Japan. He misses the way things used to be when he could tell children stories and give them candy. In the end he finds out that the children did appreciate and love him.
This book mad me think about the changes I have seen in my community. When I was little children played outside until the street lights came on. Today, it is rare for me to see all the neighborhood children outside. Is it because they are inside playing video games or do their parents think it is unsafe outside?
This week I am reading the book The Tale of Despereaux. It is about a very adventurous mouse who has a passion for adventour. But some people think it is unnecteptable, sadly but true the mouse council agrees which leads poor Despereaux to the dungeon. And the rats live there and probably will kill him. But at the end he discovers secrets and makes it out alive.

I just finished a book called 'A Wedding for Wiglaf?' by Kate McMullan. In this book the Dragon Slayer's Acadamy's headmaster Mordred sees a newspaper article saying that Princess Belchleena (who is very rich) is looking for a prince to marry. She promises the match-maker who finds her a husband a pot of gold. Mordred loves money so he trys to get Wiglaf to marry Belchleena, even though Wiglaf doesn't want to. In the end, Belchleena finds her long-lost-love and Wiglaf doesn't have to marry her.
ReplyDeleteI sort of know how Wiglaf feels about not wanting to marry Belchleena. I've never almost married anyone, but I've had to do something I didn't want to do. And when they told me I didn't have to do it, I was very happy and relieved just like Wiglaf. Afterward I could enjoy myself, just like Wiglaf did in the book.

I am reding the book Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.This book is about an 11 year old boy who goes to Yancy Acadami.Percy get expeled from the school when his spelling teacher tells him he needs to do better in spelling,when he can only read like the godsI do not think its fair that purse got expeild for telling the teacher to shut up.

This week I am reading "The Last Olympian", the last book in the series of books called Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan.
ReplyDeleteIn this book Percy Jackson shadow travels with Nico to Lukes mom's house. They are looking for the invincibility power that Luke found. They are trying to retrace his steps. At Lukes mom's house they met the last olympian. I was suprised to find out who it was in chapter 6 &7.
This book made me think about a movie I saw called "The Prince of Persia". In both cases there is a battle and the main character's are alot alike. The biggest similarity though is that the characters find a way to move through time and space using so kind of supernatural power. Sam D
I am reading "The journal of Wong-Ming Chung". Wong-Ming Chung makes it to the Golden Mountain in California. He finds his Uncle and their group making a dam using logs. Both the Uncle and Wong's camp keeps on geting robbed and they can't do any thing about it. His group has only found a few pieces of gold. This makes me think did Wong-Ming Chung's group ever find any more pieces of gold. This book remindes me of pioneer day at school when we had to search for fool's gold in a tub of water with baskets. I wonder if Wong-Ming Chung's Uncle ever dies in this book? I recommend this book to everyone who likes real stories about peoples lives.
ReplyDeleteThe book that I am reading is NOTHING BUT NET by Matt Christopher. Tim Daniels is a boy who loves playing basketball. He is going to Camp Wickasukee, a basketball skills camp. He thinks he is going to have a great time until another boy named Mike Gruber starts playing pranks on him and his friend Billy.
ReplyDeleteThis book reminds me of when I started playing basketball on SJM's team last year. I wanted it to be fun, but getting to know the other boys was hard. Sometimes they would only pass to each other. After a few weeks our coach told them they have to pass to everybody. That is when I really got to start shooting and scoring and it made me glad! In the end I made friends with all the boys and we had a winning season.
I am reading Amelia's bully survival guide by Marissa Moss.Amelia is starting 5th grade tomorrow!!! She is sooooooooo nervous about the first day.Her friend Leah already knows what she is going to wear! Once they start school Leah has made a new friend Gwen.This book reminds me of starting the 4th grade and moving away from my friends and school.How much I missed them and wanted to go home then I made a bunch of new friends like Jaimi and now I don't want to move back I want to stay because I know I will miss my new friends too. I will always miss my old friends but I always have my friends to lean on.

This week i have been readng Pee Wee Scouts Halloween Helpers. In this book 13 Pee Wee Scouts go to there scout leaders house and find that the leader had a family emergency in Millwackie. So now her brother that was inthe millatary. Now they must teah him how to be a Pee Wee troop leader.

This week I finished the book Tea with Milk. This book is about a young Japanise girl who grows up in San Francisco. Her parents were homesick so they left her home town and went back to Japan which was their home town. Then she grows up and marrys a man.

This week I read Diary of a Whimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. It is a story about a boy named Greg. Greg is in middle school. Greg has some trouble making friends. The book tells about all the things that happen to him in middle school.

This week I read Ben 10 Alien Force Double Negative. In the beginning, the main character Ben was acting a little strange, acing all of his math and physics tests, and really loving chili cheese fries. His friends Gwen and Kevin didn't think much of it, until they find out an imposter(Albedo, Ben's evil alter ego)has taken Ben's place. In the end, they destroy Vilgax the evil ruler of the galaxy and find Ben.

I am still reading the book Abduction by Peg Kehret. Matt has been kidnapped by Denny,a dad he thought was dead. Matt doesn't like the idea of spending the rest of his life with Denny. So, everytime Denny goes to the bathroom or leaves the room, Matt tries to use the phone to get to his mother. This makes me think about all the times I am about to do something, but at the last minute I chicken out. - Kayla
ReplyDeleteThis week I am reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling.It is a story about a boy named Harry. Harry is in his third year at Hogwarts. A prisoner, Sirius Black, had escaped Azkaban and is after Harry. Harry finds out that Sirius Black is his god father.
