Wow! I can't believe today is the last day of February! I hope you all had a happy and healthy weekend. The Phillips Family is passing around a terrible little cold!
Here is what to expect this week:
Math-Please encourage your child to play the fraction games I have linked to the blog. They are a great review for our test on Tuesday. Wednesday we will be changing things up in math and working on the geometry unit. Please look for a small math project to be coming home Wednesday. This mini-project will preview some geometry vocabulary and review some "old" math vocabulary.
Reading- Students have been working hard in guided reading groups. We have been continuing to discuss supporting details and main ideas. It is tricky to separate what is most interesting and what is most important! I am very proud the 9 students in my class were eligible for the Mark Twain Party on Friday. I am lucky to have a class of such avid readers!
Word Study-Test on Friday. There is no contract this time. Instead students are getting daily assignments to complete in class while I pull back groups.
Writing-Our choice pieces are due on Tuesday. We are going to begin Poetry this week.
Upcoming Dates:
March 7 -EFG Collection Ends
March 11-3rd quarter ends Half Day - Dismissal 11:45am
March 12-18 Spring Break
Congrats to our shining star Jaimi! She was a munchkin in the Lindbergh Prodution of the Wizard of Oz! We will see you on Broadway someday!
